The young cadet groaned, shifting so that her butt was sticking up in the air and her face was stuffed into a the pillow, the sheets only covering the left half and head of her body. For a moment it was quiet again. Only the sounds of ticking coming from a cow over the moon clock on the wooden bedside table next to the left side of her bed that was pushed up against the far right corner of the room. The clock sat next to her neatly arranged family photos and a mini silver lamp. Suddenly Akira sprung up from the bed, trying to get off as fast as she could but the sky blue and white polka dotted sheets tangled around her legs and refused to let go. She tumbled off the bed and fortunately have her face greeted by the fluffy, round cloud design carpet instead of the cold, dark brown floor boards beneath. She groaned in pain and pushed herself up, ignoring the throbbing coming from her forehead. She shook her head to clear her mind from the rest of her drowsiness and looked down at the tangled heap made up of blankets and legs, wrestling her way out of it web. Finally, after a minute or two, she untangled herself from the sheets and dashed over to the closet at the opposite end of the bed. She swung the doors open with a sense of urgency and shoved away the mountains of clothing piles to reveal, at the very back, a big bag that was tied with ribbon at the top. She grabbed it and hugged it close to her chest, the scent of sugar filling her nostrils.
"Where to hide it, where to hide it," she whispered to nobody in particular as she scanned the room a few times. Behind her giant cookie pillow? No, too obvious. Under the pillow mountain in the middle of the carpet? No, might get squished. In the drawers of the bedside table next to her dragonfly photo collection? No, they might look there.
Then she found it.
The perfect hiding place.
She ran over to her dresser next to the bedside table, stumbling a few times, and opened one of the drawers full of her undergarments. She the promptly dumped all of her undies and things onto the floor and shoved the bag at the very bottom, then burying it with all the clothes. She let out a sigh of relief as she shut the drawer and allowed herself to slouch a bit against the dresser. Her eyes then met with her own reflection in the mirror on the dresser. Clumps of her brown hair were sticking up in the air, flying in all directions and was still dressed in her sleepwear which consisted of a bright yellow t-shirt and shorts with little baby ducks marching around the rims. Eyes straying away from the mirror and onto the cow over the moon clock, she realized with a shock that she was late for her duties. She bolted over to her closet and quickly got dressed in the cadet uniform, almost ripping the sleeves off of the jacket from the brute force she was using in the process; patting down her bed head which stubbornly stayed up. She let out a frustrated grumble when her hair taming didn't go well, and just decided to wear the hat to hide it. She then strode over to her
